Porcelain Mortar and Pestle
While I love marble and soapstone mortar and pestles, a good ceramic mortar and pestle is a must for any incense maker. It’s tough to find a set that is a decent size, good quality, and reasonably priced, but this one fits the bill. The mortar is 100mm (4 inches) wide on the outside and 80mm (3 1/4 inch) wide inside. It has an integral pour spout and stands 60mm (2.5 inches) tall. The pestle is 130mm (5 1/4 inches) long. It is 35mm (1 1/3 inches) at the widest point and 20mm (3/4 inches) at the narrowest. The mortar is glazed on the outside and unglazed inside. The top half of the pestle is glazed and bottom half unglazed.
This is a beautiful, durable piece. If cared for, it will last a life time.
