Burgundy Pitch (Spruce resin)
Burgundy “pitch” is the resin from Spruce trees. This particular resin is harvested from the Burgundy region of France. Although this resin was most widely used in centuries past to seal the hull of sailing ships, it is also an amazing aromatic. Considering how intense the scent is, I can only imagine how the shipyards must have smelled with the scent of fresh lumber and Burgundy pitch mingling in the air.

This spruce resin is strongly scented and, honestly, a little slice of heaven. The resin ranges from coarse powder to large pieces. Because the resin is a little “green”, it may smoke more than some other resins. It is easy to powder and forgiving to work with. Just take care not to overwhelm your blend with this wonderful resin. Sometimes, less is more.
